POLAR
Less than 5 minutes a day for a stable life

190M+ people worldwide live with some form of bipolar disorder.

POLAR is a WebAPP that helps you keep a thorough — yet simple — track of the parameters that influence your mood. You'll know at any moment what state you're in (depression, euthymia, hypomania or mania), and you'll be able to anticipate changes. You can share the information you decide with a family member or friend and with your doctor so they have access to the main parameters, objective criteria, and can help make decisions based on real data about how you feel and your daily history.

Bipolar disorder affects 2-3% of the world's population. In Spain, more than one million people have been diagnosed — and many more do not know it yet. The average delay to a correct diagnosis is 10 years, during which many people are treated for depression, anxiety or ADHD without improving.

A continuous record of your mood, sleep, and energy can be the key for your doctor to reach the correct diagnosis sooner — and for you to understand what is happening to you.

Know someone this app could help? Don't hesitate to share it — you'll be helping someone in need.

Our motivation
I have worked with a family member diagnosed with bipolar disorder for more than 25 years. My sister passed away at 36 with undiagnosed bipolar disorder. That has been my motivation for taking part in this project. I miss her deeply and think of her often. My only motivation is the early diagnosis of this condition.

COLLABORATE WITH POLAR

Do you have experience with bipolar disorder and want to help?

If you have been living with bipolar disorder for years and believe your experience can help others, join as a collaborator patient. Help improve POLAR by sharing your perspective.

You decide who walks beside you — and how much they see.

POLAR is yours. Nobody accesses your data without your permission. But if you want, you can invite the people around you to actively join your tracking.

Nobody

That's also a valid option. You can use POLAR completely privately, without sharing your data with anyone else.

Family & friends

Invite the trusted people you want. Each one only accesses what you decide: they can see how you are today, follow your mood calendar, or support you with their own rating from their perspective.

You configure what each person can see — individually.

  • ·Your partner can see your medication and statistics
  • ·Your friend can see only the visual mood calendar
  • ·Your mother can log how she saw you that day

Your doctor or psychiatrist

Share your tracking with your health professional. You can give full access — so they know you better between appointments — or choose exactly which sections they can see.

With full access, your doctor can see 10 years of cycles in minutes. That changes a consultation.

Full accessRECOMMENDED

Everything visible, nothing editable. Your doctor sees your data, doesn't modify it.

Custom access

You choose exactly what they can see, just like with family and friends.

Your data is yours. Only you control it. You can pause or revoke anyone's access at any time.

Choose the plan that suits you best

POLAR offers subscriptions for patients, support networks and professionals, with tools tailored to each need.

No ads. Your data is never sold or used to train AI models.

Genetics and bipolar disorder

Bipolar disorder has one of the strongest genetic bases among mental disorders. If you have a first-degree relative — parent or sibling — with the condition, your risk of developing it is 5 to 10 times higher than the general population. In identical twins, the probability that both will develop it reaches 70%.

This does not mean the diagnosis is an inevitable destiny. Genetics sets a predisposition, but environmental factors — stress, sleep patterns, substance use, life events — are often what trigger or modulate the illness in people with that vulnerability.

Knowing your family history matters. Not to create alarm, but to be more attentive, seek help earlier if symptoms appear, and understand that what is happening to you has a real biological basis — it is not a question of character or willpower.

THE FOUNDERS OF POLAR

More than 25 years with bipolar disorders, leading relatively normal and balanced lives.

We have been through depressions, hypomanias and manias — always in a controlled way, without stopping work. We are convinced that with psychiatric follow-up, personalized medication followed strictly, and therapy (individual, group or peer association), a stable and normal life is possible.

We are two cousin entrepreneurs who have spent our lives building businesses in consulting, finance, real estate and health. Today we dedicate part of our time to accompanying — never as therapists, but from experience — people diagnosed with bipolar disorder, in individual and group sessions. One of us is in Spain and the other in the USA. If we can help you, we would be delighted to do so.

Experiential peer session
Experiential contact
Want to talk with someone who lives it?

Individual and group sessions from an experiential approach, complementary to medical treatment.

POLAR is a personal tracking tool. It does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment of bipolar disorder.
Experiential support conversation
Important if you want to talk to a POLAR collaborator

Not a medical or psychological service

POLAR's experiential companionship is based on the peer support model — people living with bipolar disorder accompanying others. It is not therapy, medical consultation, or emergency service.

🚫
The companion is not a health professional

Does not diagnose, prescribe, or advise on medication or therapy. Shares lived experience, not clinical judgment.

🤝
The relationship is peer-to-peer

A conversation between equals. The companion has been through the same. No clinical hierarchy, only shared experience.

⚕️
It does not replace medical or psychological treatment

Experiential companionship complements — never replaces — your psychiatrist or psychologist. If in crisis, contact your doctor.

❤️
It is voluntary

Peer companionship is voluntary. POLAR collaborators may decide whether to provide the service for free or charge for their services.

The peer support model has been working for decades in other countries. We are not starting from scratch.

The peer support model has more than 30 years of evidence and is present in most states. Peer specialists have certified training and work in hospitals, community centers, and recovery programs.

Ervaringsdeskundigen (expertos por experiencia)

The Dutch system has institutionalized the 'expert by experience' role as part of the mental health care team. A European benchmark in peer model integration.

🇪🇸
SpainIn development
ABM and community mental health associations

In Spain the model is less institutionally developed, but some associations like ABM (Bipolar Association of Madrid) have been doing peer companionship voluntarily for years. POLAR wants to make that connection accessible at scale.

📌POLAR does not aim to replace any existing resource. We want to complement what already exists — bringing peer companionship to more people with bipolar disorder in Spain.

Why POLAR?

If you have bipolar disorder and are looking for a tool to better understand what you're going through, POLAR is the most complete option available in Spanish.

What sets it apart:

  • Built from the ground up for bipolar disorder

Not a generic wellness app adapted. It has a 1-14 clinical scale that distinguishes depression, euthymia, hypomania and mania — not just 'I feel good or bad'.

  • Daily logging takes 2 minutes

Sleep, medication, mood, energy, activity. Over time you see your patterns and can anticipate episodes before they take hold.

  • You control who sees what

You can share only the mood calendar with a friend, give access to medication and statistics to your partner, and full access to your psychiatrist so they have real data from the last months — instead of reconstructing your history from memory. That changes a consultation.

  • Plans for every need

Choose Premium for personal tracking, Family for shared support, or Professional for clinical management. Plans start at €4.99/month.

In Spain there are more than a million people diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Most have no tool like this. POLAR exists to change that.

One million people in Spain deserve a WebAPP like this.

If you have bipolar disorder — or support someone who does — POLAR is here to help. Choose the plan that best fits you.
